Rainbow is Ofsted regulated with charity status, and as a Committee-run Pre-School, working in partnership with parents is essential to all we do. There are many opportunities for parents to be involved and to contribute to the decision-making process and the life of the Pre-School.
We encourage regular dialogue with parents about how your child is progressing, and seek to support what you are encouraging in the home. During each session, your child’s key person will record details about what your child has been doing that day in their ‘contact book’, and parents are asked to write details of what your child has been up to at home.
We also produce an individual journal for each child, called their “Unique Journey Book”. This features photographs and details of what they have done during their time with us, and we will give this to you when they leave for Primary School.
At scheduled times we will arrange for you to spend some time on site talking privately with your child’s key person. This provides you both with an opportunity to discuss your child’s development and progress in more depth, and in a confidential setting.
Communicating with you
We produce regular parents’ newsletters to keep you informed of news and important dates for your diary. If you are happy to receive updates by text message, we will also send you a text to remind you of important events and information, or to inform you if the Pre-School will be closed for any reason during term time, such as bad weather.
In order to help parents make new friends and get to know each other better, from time-to-time the Committee runs coffee mornings in the Congregational Church next to Rainbow. There are hot and cold drinks, home-made cakes and toys for younger children to play with, and everyone is warmly invited to come along.
